What is a “plate”?
Each item in the collection is referred to as a plate — a print of an original illustration prepared to document a place, species or discovery from the Museum's archive.
Are these real historical artefacts?
The plates document places and species beyond the boundaries of accepted knowledge. We record; we leave it to you to decide.
What sizes are available?
Most plates are available in A3 (29.7 × 42 cm) and A2 (42 × 59.4 cm).
How are the prints made?
Every plate is a museum-quality giclée print, using archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm paper.
Do you ship internationally?
