Why we chose it
Imagine a field guide to something that should not exist. We curated this for the tension between careful observation and the uncanny; the detail makes it a conversation piece, not a novelty.
About the artist & work
"The Concourse of the Birds", Folio 11r from a Mantiq al-Tayr (Language of the Birds) by Habiballah of Sava (ca. 1600). Medium: Ink, opaque watercolor, gold, and silver on paper. Its close-observed detail rewards looking in, whether displayed alone or as part of a collected wall.
