The Polar Archway rises from an otherwise featureless ice field, its surviving span large enough to reduce the accompanying survey party to near invisibility. Erosion along the exposed masonry indicates an age inconsistent with the present glacial formation, suggesting that the structure predates the surrounding ice by a considerable margin.

No adjoining road, settlement or foundation has been recorded. The monument appears to have been built in isolation, although the purpose of an entrance without walls remains unresolved.

Registrar's Notes

Despite its scale, the Archway appears on no recognised chart of the polar regions.
