Pierre-Joseph Redouté’s Plate 131 from Les Liliacées presents the crown imperial at near life scale, its ring of pendant flowers held beneath a burst of narrow leaves. Published between 1802 and 1816 under the patronage of Joséphine Bonaparte, the series is among Redouté’s most ambitious botanical works.
