Why we chose it
What drew us in was the way the scene balances human scale with architecture. Small figures, openings, and receding planes give the eye somewhere to travel. It works especially well in a study, reading room, or hallway.
About the artist & work
Pierre Moreau’s 18th-century etching, made after Stefano della Bella, places a camel and small figures inside an invented architectural landscape. The scale of the human and animal figures sharpens the sense that the surrounding structures belong to a city remembered, borrowed or entirely invented.
